Parents and Guardians
If you are the parent or guardian of a young person looking to make the trip then this page is for you. We believe this can be one of the best investments that you can make in the life of your teenager. Your support of your child is invaluable and will make a real difference in their lives.
"I found that the exposure within short-term missions trips were primarily the most impacting 'bang-for-your-buck' eye opener that a young person could have. Some believe if you want to harvest a long-term missionary, seed a short-term missions trip. This Generation (Y) truly lives life from an experience-based worldview."
- Ps. Matt Rendell
10 Step-Up Factors
1. The trip gives them a focused PURPOSE to work towards
2. It challenges to CONTRIBUTE outside of themselves
3. MISSION becomes an EXPERIENCE, not just a church department
4. It causes them to REFLECT and hopefully ADJUST their worldview
5. It challenges the core of the MATERIALISTIC lifestyle
6. It takes GLOBAL mission and morphs it into LOCAL ministry
7. It impacts and often SEEDS greater missios work in later life
8. It challenges the OLDER generation to INVEST into the NEXT generation
9. It causes them to be the Matthew 25 HANDS & FEET of Jesus
10. It is a PRACTICAL reality that strengthens the CHRISTIAN lifestyle
Other things to be aware of
If a child is under 18 years old they require a signature from you as their parent/s or guardian, before they are able to make the trip.
KOI will also ask for a character reference from a pastor/youth pastor.
If KOI feels that somebody seeking to go on the trip is for some reason not ready or mature enough, then it will be recommended that they don't go.
Travel Insurance is required, and informational PDF's about the trips can be found on our downloads page.
The whole trip to Russia is reasonably safe, this includes both travel to and around Russia, as teams travel together throughout Russia. However it is important for team members to stay accountable to their team leaders and KOI coordinators.
The camps are looked after and there are security gaurds present at all times.
